Parkdale Women’s Cricket & Junior Girls– 2024-25

Registration and Training 

The full pathway for our girls begins with mixed gender cricket in Junior Blasters (5-7 years*), Mini Bash (7-9*), & U/12 Rookies – Junior Cricket Stage 1 (8-11*).  

Parkdale girls specific junior cricket begins with Under 12 Stage 1 & 2 teams (8-12*), Under 14 A & B teams and Under 16 A & B teams in the All Girls Cricket Competition. When applicable an U18 girls team will also be entered. 

Our girls are also welcome to join our SECA ‘boys’ competition teams from U12 Rookies all the way through to U18s. 

* Ages are flexible and used as an indication, skill development is a factor when determining the appropriate level. Parkdale CC girls are encouraged to have fun with their cricket and play in as many teams at different ages as they feel comfortable. 

For example a 10 year old girl could play Rookies on Saturday morning and Under 12 girls Stage 1 on a Wednesday evening. A more experienced 13 year old girl could play Under 14 Stage 2 girls (Wed), Under 16 girls (Sunday) and Under 18 girls (Tues) if their skill level is high. And finally a 15 year old could play Under 16 girls (Sun am), Under 18 girls (Tues pm) and Ladies cricket (Sun pm) and play in the SECA U16 team on Friday. 

Stage 1 & Stage 2 refers to the Cricket Australia Girls & Boys Junior Pathway. The primary difference is that Stage 1 for beginners play with a plastic ball and Stage 2 play with a hard leather cricket ball. Both stages wear pads and helmets and all of the gear. 

Parkdale CC plans to field two Cricket Southern Bayside open age Women’s Teams in Div 4 & 5 this season, playing from Gerry Green Reserve or Aspendale Gardens Sports Reserve on Sundays as their home ground. 

Our women’s teams are developed to accommodate absolute newcomers to cricket and are based on fun and encouraging T20 format games each Sunday. The girls are super social and really enjoy welcoming new members to the club.
